SAINT VINCENT CATHOLIC MEDICAL CENTERS IN NEW YORK CITY
ENGAGES GHIORSI & SORRENTI, INC.

Health System to Embark on Most Ambitious Capital Campaign in its History

After an extensive and highly competitive search that involved several fund raising consulting firms, Saint Vincent’s Catholic Medical Centers (SVCMC) in New York City  has engaged Ghiorsi & Sorrenti Inc. as counsel for the largest capital campaign in its long and prestigious history.

Central to SVCMC’s plan for the future is the construction of an all new, $835 million state-of-the-art St. Vincent’s Hospital Manhattan.  St. Vincent’s Hospital is a major teaching and community hospital that is the flagship of the Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers (SVCMC) healthcare system.  Located in historic Greenwich Village, St. Vincent’s serves the dense neighborhoods on the Lower West Side and Downtown of Manhattan and offers the only Level 1 Trauma Center on the west side between the Battery and 114th street.

“We are proud and ecstatic to be representing Saint Vincent’s as campaign counsel for this historic undertaking…the first new hospital to be built in New York City in 20 years,” stated Peter W. Ghiorsi, Chairman and CEO of Ghiorsi & Sorrenti, Inc. (GSI). Mr. Ghiorsi, along with Dan Sorrenti, GSI’s President and Chief Operating Officer, began their development careers at SVCMC.  This year marks GSI’s 20th anniversary. Peter Ghiorsi and Dan Sorrenti founded GSI in 1989 after a long tenure guiding the development, marketing and public relations programs at St. Vincent’s. “The timing is particularly rewarding and providential,” said Mr. Ghiorsi, “and, ironically, the years we spent working at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan prepared us well for the responsibility we have today.”

Among its distinctive features, the new St. Vincent’s Hospital Manhattan will be the first all-digital hospital built from the ground up in New York City as well as the first environmentally friendly “green” building in New York.  The new hospital will offer private rooms for patient comfort and safety, a fully electronic medical records system, cutting-edge operating suites, and the most advanced diagnostic services for interventional radiology, cardiac catheterization and endoscopy.

Headquartered in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, GSI is a leading fund raising and public relations firm, specializing in planning and executing capital campaigns. Since 1989, Ghiorsi & Sorrenti, Inc. has partnered with hundreds of organizations in raising more than $6 billion with an additional $6 million in progress.
