John G. Modzelewski has more than 30 years' experience in the fields of development, marketing and public relations. John has extensive experience in healthcare and educational fund raising and his work has encompassed all aspects of the field from capital campaigns and annual giving to foundation and government grants to special events.
With Ghiorsi & Sorrenti, Inc., Mr. Modzelewski's clients have ranged from health care to secondary and graduate education to religious orders and community-based organizations. Over the last 17 years, his clients have raised nearly $200 million. Campaign successes have included the largest gift ever made to a healthcare institution by a living individual in Bergen County, New Jersey, a gift equaling the largest corporate commitment to a healthcare institution in New Jersey, the largest grant made in 2006 by the Hearst Foundations and two prestigious Kresge Foundation grants.
Prior to joining Ghiorsi & Sorrenti, Inc. John served as Vice President for Development at Mercy College, a 6,000 student, multi-campus institution headquartered in Westchester County, NY, and as Chief Development Officer at Carlow College, a women's college in Pittsburgh, PA.
John’s work includes the production of more than a dozen fund raising audiovisual presentations. He has written advertising and radio programming copy, official citations, speeches and Congressional testimony. His hobby of photography resulted in his work being published in the New York Daily News, Gannett Suburban Newspapers, and the historical work Profiles of Dobbs Ferry (Parrell, Oceana Press). He has developed and presented fund raising seminars and lectured in college-level communications courses. Over his career, John has been honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America, Advertising Club of Westchester and Westchester/ Fairfield Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. He was included on three occasions in Marquis' Who's Who in the East. With his GSI colleagues, he was honored with the Gilda’s Magic Award by Gilda’s Club Northern New Jersey.
Mr. Modzelewski holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Duquesne University and an MBA in Organizational Behavior from Iona College. He and his wife, Barbara, reside in New City, NY.
