President & COO

Dan SorrentiDan Sorrenti has 30 years of experience as an accomplished executive and consultant in the fields of fund raising, public relations and marketing.  In 1989, he co-founded Ghiorsi & Sorrenti, Inc. (GSI), a national fund raising and public relations firm that specializes in planning and directing capital campaigns for the full spectrum of non-profit organizations. Over the firm's history, GSI has partnered with thousands of clients in raising over $6 billion with another $600 million in progress.

As President and Chief Operating Officer of GSI, Mr. Sorrenti has had a lead role in supervising and directing capital campaigns for a diverse portfolio of clients ranging from hospitals, medical centers and healthcare systems, to schools, religious, social service and environmental organizations, to professional associations and societies. His specific expertise is in campaign planning and organization along with major gift strategy and solicitation.  As such, Mr. Sorrenti has worked closely with the firm's staff and clients in developing approach strategies for securing substantial gifts at the eight, seven, six and high five-figure levels.

Prior to starting GSI, Mr. Sorrenti served as the Director of Marketing at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center of New York and prior to that position, as St. Vincent’s Director of Public and Community Relations and Assistant Director of Development.  Mr. Sorrenti started St. Vincent’s first formal Marketing Department and he completely reorganized the Medical Center’s Public and Community Relations Department into a highly proactive publicity and corporate communications function.  Also during his many years at St. Vincent’s, Mr. Sorrenti actively engaged in the Medical Center’s multi-million dollar capital campaigns and aggressive annual fund raising programs. His development responsibilities also included grants management, prospect research and donor relations.

Before his tenure at St. Vincent's, Mr. Sorrenti co-founded and served as Director of the Office of Public Information at St. Peter's Preparatory School in Jersey City, New Jersey where his responsibilities encompassed public relations, admissions, marketing, alumni relations and development.   Since starting GSI, Mr. Sorrenti and his colleagues at the firm have assisted St. Peter’s with planning and directing two highly successful capital and endowment campaigns that oversubscribed their respective goals.

Mr. Sorrenti has been a career-long member of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals (AFP) and the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) for which he served as the AHP Board’s National Chairman of Public Affairs and Marketing.  In this capacity for AHP, he directed the development of the “Give to Life” campaign aimed at promoting increased awareness of the need for philanthropic giving to hospitals and medical centers in the U.S. and Canada.

Mr. Sorrenti is a graduate of Fordham University and has served as an Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School of Management of the New School University.  He has written articles for the AHP Journal, Fund Raising Management magazine and other publications and regularly serves as a featured speaker and faculty member at professional development conferences, seminars and meetings.

Mr. Sorrenti has also served on a number of volunteer boards during his career including The Caring Community, an elder services organization in New York City; the Alumni Association of St. Peter’s Preparatory School; and the Craig School in Mountainside, New Jersey which is a leader in educating children with language-based learning difficulties. As a member of the Craig board, he serves as Co-Chair of the Institutional Advancement Committee.
